  10. At the same time I’ve watched my mother coddle my sister to a degree that elicits slight disgust in myself. There are times to experiment, try different things, branch out, and grow.

  12. It’s very easy to slip into being overly-protective as a mother. I had to overcome a lot of ‘imagining the worst’ every time my daughter walks out the door alone. Worrying is pointless though. Knowledge and awareness are our best weapons. There is only so much anyone can do and STILL HAVE A FREAKIN’ LIFE. I’d prefer to dwell on all of my good experiences than bad ones but the bad ones do serve a purpose as a lesson (and some hindsight as to how I could have better dealt with some of them).

  16. I don’t think someone can be overly respectful of someone. Being someone’s doormat is one thing but being respectful is not being a doormat (it’s common courtesy and should be applied to and from both sexes). 99.9% of strangers I’ve encountered have been respectful of me and me of them. I’ve had more problems with people I KNOW than strangers!
